Safety, health, climate, the environment – wherever we are active, our goal is to operate in a sustainable and positive way.
For Total, diversity is not just a commitment – it's our hallmark. Today with operations in 130 countries, we know that success depends on being open to the world, other cultures and differences. We are looking for people whose profiles are as varied as our professions : engineers, communications officers, learners or experienced professionals - there is no model career path, but a multitude of personalities who together make up our complementarity and our strength.
For us, recruiting employees means welcoming people, not just their profile on paper. This respect is part of our DNA and we have made it one of the pillars of our Code of conduct. We enjoy the highest ranking among the world's oil & gas majors in the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark, additional proof of our commitment to further enhance our respect for people and differences across the world.
TWICE, our network for promoting gender equality
We encourage women to accept key positions in the Group. Over the last 10 years, our TWICE network (Total Women Initiative for Communication and Exchange) has contributed to changing mentalities so as to drive greater gender equality in the company. It helps women boost their career and make their voice heard in discussions about the Group's business challenges.
Total Survey lets Group employees express their opinions
We believe it is crucial to involve employees in decision making. Every two years, we consult them on a range of issues through the Total Survey. They can express their opinion, anonymously, on what is working and what they think could be improved. The opinions recorded are followed by action plans. Almost 65,000 employees across the world participated in the survey in 2015.
We commit to integrating people with disabilities
For many years, we have deployed a proactive policy of professional integration and job support for employees with disabilities throughout their career. This commitment is grounded in a number of agreements negotiated with the social partners and approved by the Administration. We take pride in the rise in our employment rate for this group of people, up at 5.16% in 2016, and in the trust demonstrated by our employees – they describe the Group's Disability policy as "well thought-out, active and determined".
The Total Foundation supports health, youth and marine biodiversity
Helping combat hepatitis B in Africa, working to prevent school drop-out in France, supporting a project to preserve elephant seals in the Southern Ocean: since it was set up in 1992, our corporate foundation has been acting alongside its partners throughout the world to make a difference and build a more harmonious society. >
We do everything we can to guarantee a stimulating environment in the Group, on both the professional and personal levels. This means taking all the factors into account: your compensation, of course, but also the workplace itself, your health coverage and opportunities for mobility. We believe that our employees cannot tackle the energy challenges of tomorrow unless they enjoy the best possible conditions. You deserve an employer that provides the best at all levels: safety, ethics, management and social performance.
This commitment is part and parcel of the "pioneering spirit" that has driven Total since its creation. We encourage our employees to achieve their full potential. We value merit and team spirit and remain attentive to the needs of all to offer a world of opportunities.
